How it works

Backdoor Cut: 1 has the ball at the top, 2 on the right wing is overplayed by his defender. 2 steps up toward the ball to pull the defender higher.

  1. 1 has the ball at the top, 2 on the right wing is overplayed by his defender.
  2. 2 steps up toward the ball to pull the defender higher.
  3. 2 plants the outside foot and cuts behind the overplay to the rim.
  4. 1 throws a bounce pass for the layup. If the low defender helps, kick to the open corner.

Coaching tips

The cut starts the moment the defender's foot and hand are in the passing lane. Passer: bounce pass, away from the defender.
