How it works

Box-Out & Rebound: Offensive player stands at the 3-point line. Defender is inside the paint. Offense shoots (or coach shoots from the side).

  1. Offensive player stands at the 3-point line. Defender is inside the paint.
  2. Offense shoots (or coach shoots from the side).
  3. On the shot, defender finds their man, makes contact with their back, and seals them out.
  4. Defender holds the box-out for 2 seconds before pursuing the ball.
  5. Offense tries to get around or over the defender. Defender must win the rebound.
  6. 5 reps each role.

Coaching tips

Box out is won BEFORE the ball comes down. Find your man first, then pivot into them. Hips low, arms wide — make yourself big.
