How it works

Outlet Pass Drill: Big (5) positions under the basket. Guard (1) lines the outlet lane (right side, near half court). Coach or manager shoots the ball off the backboard for a missed shot.

  1. Big (5) positions under the basket. Guard (1) lines the outlet lane (right side, near half court).
  2. Coach or manager shoots the ball off the backboard for a missed shot.
  3. Big (5) rebounds and immediately pivots to find the outlet.
  4. Strong, flat outlet pass to the guard at the right wing.
  5. Guard catches and pushes the ball up the floor.
  6. Repeat with outlet to the left side. 10 reps each.

Coaching tips

The outlet pass is the first pass of the fast break — every missed shot is an opportunity. Big must chin the ball (ball under chin, elbows out) before passing to protect possession.
