How it works

Pistol Action: Ball-handler advances and hits the trailing big at the free throw line. Ball-handler immediately cuts hard around the big's ball screen.

  1. Ball-handler advances and hits the trailing big at the free throw line.
  2. Ball-handler immediately cuts hard around the big's ball screen.
  3. Big rolls to the basket or pops to the elbow depending on coverage.
  4. Corner shooters are ready to receive a skip pass if the defense collapses.

Coaching tips

Timing is critical — the screen must be set before the guard turns the corner. Big reads the defender: hard hedge = pop, drop coverage = roll.
